WE BEAT LOGAN!!  ‘NUFF SAID!  J

 

Well, OK, just a few details… Homestead, 87.05; Logan 86.07, Amador 85.6.  AND we took General Effect, Music, and Percussion!!

 

Way to go Homestead!!

 

WAY TO GO AT THE  PURPLE STRIDE!

 

Congratulations to Thomas Fork for coming in first at the PurpleStride 5K last Saturday!!  Rohan Subramaniam came in Third, and Rory McCaffrey came if 5th!

 

And congratulations to Team Barbara 2013 for raising over $16K and having 136 members on the team!

 

REMINDER – THEY ARE ALL MANDATORY

 

Parents, please contact Mr. Burn immediately by email if your student is missing any practice, football game, or performance, regardless of the reason.    Your student’s grade can be affected by absences.

 

 

SCHEDULE FOR SATURDAY NOV 9TH – HOME SHOW!

 

 

9 am -4 pm     Full Marching Band Rehearsal on Homestead Field

Bring your instrument, CLEAN black shoes, black socks, gloves, and shoe bag. Please remember to wear a shirt with short sleeves (no tank tops) Also, remember to wear your boxer shorts (we’ll be changing outside).

4 pm                Get into Uniform, return to stadium

                        GUARD – ask Mrs. Goddard what you are to wear

                        JAZZ ENSEMBLE - meet in front of the weight room with your jazz

                        instrument, in its case; you will perform in your marching band uniform

4:20-4:50pm    Jazz Ensemble performs; all other marchers should be in the stadium


5pm                 HOME SHOW BEGINS

5:00pm            Parade Performance

                        band and color guard set parade block on track, then march along track

                        performing  Parade Routine

5:05pm            Traditional Pre-game Show

                        Band, guard and dance team

5:10pm            Pep Music Concert

                        After completing Sons of Westwood, band reforms into concert formation

                        on the track – just like we normally do between JV and Varsity football

                        games

5:25pm            Drum Line "Show and Tell"

                        Drum line comes to the front and plays a warm up or cadence
                        When drum line finishes, they walk towards "page zero"/field show

                        opening set, get props, but stay on sidelines/endzones until after dance

                        team performance

5:30pm            Woodwinds and Brass "Show and Tell"
                        Salvation Is Created

                        When winds finish, they walk towards "page zero"/field show opening set,

                        Get props, but stay on sidelines/endzones until after dance team

                        performance

5:35pm            Color Guard "Show and Tell"

                        Color guard sets block on track and does a warm up exercise
                        When guard finishes, they walk towards "page zero"/field show opening

                        set, set equipment/props, but stay on sidelines/endzones until after dance

                        team performance.

5:40 pm           Front Ensemble "Show and Tell"

                        Front Ensemble/pit plays a warm up

5:45pm            Special Equestriettes Dance Team Performance

                        All senior marchers and guard members and their parents line up

                        Alphabetically by last name on the 50 yard line, back side line, as

                        the Equestriettes finish their performance.   Mrs. Dee Dee Wong and

                        Ms. Spieller will be assisting you.

                Senior Recognition
                        Senior student names will be called in alphabetic order by last name

                        Student and their parents will walk to Mr. Weingartner, who will shake

                        Hands.  You and your parents will then take a photo with Mr.

                        Weingartner.

                        Join the rest of the band in formation


5:50pm           Perform The City of Tomorrow!

6:00pm            Show concludes
                        Change out of uniform

                        Enjoy food truck fare!

7:00 pm           Food trucks close/event ends.

 

THERE IS FULL MARCHING BAND REHEARSAL MONDAY NOVEMBER 11TH

 

Even though there is no school next Monday, there will be rehearsal for the Full Marching Band, from 5:30-8:30 pm.

 

 

REMINDER - STATE HONOR BAND AUDITION MATERIAL DUE FRIDAY NOV 15TH!


This is a reminder that State Honor Band audition materials are due to Mr. Burn on Friday, November 15th.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

 

If you haven't done so already, please do the following:

    - Go to CBDA.org and carefully read what is required on your audition CD before you burn it

    - Label your CD as required by CBDA

    - Complete, print out the Student Application Form, and have your parents sign it!!  We cannot submit your application without your parent's signature.

    - Deliver the application form, the CD, and check for $45 made payable to HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL to the box marked "mrs. feltman's mail box" located in Mr. Burn's office.

BAND ROOM AVAILABILITY –

 
The following is the band room/band office availability for November.
 

NO SCHOOL MONDAY NOVEMBER 11TH – VETERAN’S DAY (but there is practice that evening!!)

 

When there are Monday night and Wednesday night practices, the band office will be open until 8:30 pm.  

Tue and Thurs the band room/band office will be open until 6 pm, except Thursday, November 28th (Thanksgiving).  

The band room and band office will be closed at 2:30 pm Wednesday, November 27th (holiday schedule).

The band room/band office will be open until 5 pm on Fridays, except for November 22nd and November 29th.  The band room/band office will be closed at 11:55 am on Friday, November 22nd until practice starts at 5:30 pm (Jazz Ensemble and Mr. Burn gone for the afternoon).   We will be closed all day on November 29th due to Thanksgiving.
