Football season is here, and we have games four Friday nights in a row. If you would like to pre-order concessions for the September 27th game, forms must be turned in by this Wednesday, September 25th at 8:30PM. Forms can be found in the Forms section of the HHSMB website at http://www.homestead-music.org. Please return the completed Concession Pre-Order Form, along with a check, to the box in the band room office.  You may place an order for one or more football games at any time.
Questions can be directed to Leissa Hartlage at lhartlage@comcast.net.

 ATTENTION MARCHERS – UNIFORM MALFUNCTIONS
(Mrs. Richards)

First off – YOU ROCK!  In years past, the first game in uniform is utter chaos, but this year it was like everyone had been doing this for years.  AND, despite this being the first game of the season, we have the highest duck award count EVER.  On behalf of myself, Mrs. Hoefflinger, Mrs. Ewanich and Mrs. Reed, THANK YOU for making our job so easy!

That being said, we are aware that some of you no doubt encountered problems with your uniform: pants were too long, pants “split” during the performance, jackets were too tight, buttons were missing, gauntlets were broken, shakos (hats) fell off, felt like they were going to fall off, or are falling apart.  If any of these issues apply to you, please contact me (angela.g.richards@gmail.com) TODAY so that I can get everything fixed prior to the next game.

ATTENTION MARCHERS AND COLOR GUARD - JACKETS ARE IN!
(Mrs. Richards)

If you ordered a green pep jacket, it is now in my possession.  I will be passing them out after practice tomorrow night.  Come find me in the Band Room.  If you do not have time to pick your jacket up tomorrow, I will also be distributing jackets outside the Band Room on Friday afternoon after school.

I have enough people wanting to order jackets that I will be placing a second order next Monday.  If you have changed your mind and have decided you’d like a jacket, please contact me at angela.g.richards@gmail.com before Friday.  This is your last opportunity to do so this season.

SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY SEPT 27th
(Mrs. Feltman)

5:30 p.m. Full Band meets in band quad with instruments in cases, gloves, shoebag with CLEAN shoes and CLEAN black socks Bring everything you need for the night, like your jacket, field show sweatshirt, and money, because the band room will be locked until the game is over.
Please remember to wear a shirt with short sleeves (NO TANK TOPS).   Also, remember to wear your boxer shorts.  The uniform carts with your hats and garment bags will be out and ready when you arrive.  Hair must be under control.  If your hair is long enough to touch your collar, be prepared to wear hair nets, hair pins, and hair ties.
Your instrument cases and personal belongings (jackets/sweatshirts/shoe bag/street clothes) should be left in the middle of the band quad; not behind the uniform carts; not next to the uniform carts, not inside your garment bag or uniform carts.
6:00 p.m.  Warm up/Pep band music rehearsal
6:55 p.m. March into stadium -- Pre-game concert on the track
7:25 p.m. Traditional pre-game show
7:30 p.m. (approximately) - game begins.

During the game, the band sits in their sections in full uniform, and plays pep band music.
No eating or drinking, except water, while in uniform.
The entire band stands up when we play.
Four minutes before half-time the band prepares for the half-time show.
Half time: the band performs The City of Tomorrow!
After the half-time show, you will go back to the uniform carts and change out of your uniforms, and put on pep band shirt, jacket and jeans.  Return your hat to its box, your marching shoes to the shoe bag, and your uniform jacket and pants (NEATLY HUNG) to the garment bag.  Hang the uniforms on the carts.
3rd quarter: return to stadium, get some food, and bring your food to the band area of the bleachers.
4th quarter: ALL band members must attend 4th quarter.   When the band is playing, everyone needs to be playing (not eating or talking). You must be with your section (flutes, clarinets, altos, etc.) when in the stands. We will play one or two songs after the game ends, and then you’re dismissed. (sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 pm)

Pre-order tickets – you will find them in your hat boxes after half-time.  Tuba and Pit will find their tickets taped to the front of their uniform cart.  Color Guard pre-order tickets will be distributed by a colorguard parent.

ATTENTION PIT, DRUMLINE, TUBAS AND GUARD – YOUR HELP IS NEEDED AFTER PRACTICE THIS SATURDAY
(Mrs. Fitzpatrick)

We are doing a pre-loading of all the props, equipment and instruments that we take on a competition.  This year we have five support vehicles (two Monarch trucks and three trailer towing trucks) and many more props and equipment than we had in years past. In order for us to see if everything can fit into the five vehicles we are doing a loading run through.

Immediately after practice on Saturday we will load the instruments, props and equipment into the five vehicles.  We will be marking the equipment and instruments and props with different colored painters tape so we will know which things go into each vehicle. Please leave the tape on the equipment and instruments as this is our way of assigning equipment and props into specific vehicles.

Thank you for your help!  You will get a reward for staying longer this Saturday.

If you have any questions, please contact me at joa.fitz@yahoo.com.

NEW PICTURES UPLOADED
(Photo/Video Team)

The Photo/Video team continues to take lots of pictures.  Now available are many more photos from the Sept. 6 football game (“selfies” seemed to be popular in the stands), photos from the Sept. 11 practice (do some members of the band really know the show so well they march with their eyes closed, and can a spinning saber be caught by a member of the color guard whose eyes are closed?), as well as the Sept. 18 practice (with Cowboys and Injuns), and the Sept. 20 football game (rounds of “Know your neighbor” in the stands may have been faster than 180 beats per minute).  To find out the answers, just follow the link in the References section below to Mr. Zumsteg’s pictures.  And be sure to check out the photos from all the members of the Photo/Video team at the link in the References section.
