UPDATED INFO REGARDING DCI AT THE MOVIES – PARENT/FRIENDS/FAMILY TICKET ORDERS DUE JULY 31ST!
(Vicki Feltman)
Just a reminder, the DCI at the Movies ticket order form is only for PARENTS, FRIENDS, and FAMILY. We already have tickets for every student in this year’s marching band and guard. They do not have to order a ticket.
So. If you are a parent, or family member, or a friend of a marcher who would like to attend the DCI at the Movies event on Thursday, August 8th, complete the order form found in the music booster website at http://www.homestead-music.org/forms,
staple a check for $18 per ticket to the order form, made payable to
HHSMB, and leave it in the box marked “mrs. Feltman’s mail box” in the
band office. We will contact you to arrange ticket distribution.
Ticket orders are due by July 31st.
Just a reminder, we only have a limited number, so tickets will be sold first come, first serve.
Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com for more information.
FIRST ALL-DAY FULL MARCHING BAND PRACTICE SATURDAY, AUGUST 3RD
(Vicki Feltman)
Our
first all-day practice for the Full Marching Band (brass and woodwind
players, drum line, front ensemble, and guard) will take place Saturday August 3rdfrom 9am-5pm. Lunch break is typically around 12 pm.
Students, remember to bring the following items with you:
o Your instrument/guard equipment!
o Your music
o Your gallon sized cooler filled with water and ice cubes – PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR WATER JUG. They all look alike.
o Sunscreen
– just because you smoothed a pinky’s worth all over your body in the
morning doesn’t mean you are protected from the sun all day.
o HAT – fried brains are a delicacy in some countries, but they wont do us any good on the field
o THICK SOLED athletic shoes, so you don’t burn the bottom of your feet on the hot artificial turf. Absolutely NO sandals and NO bare feet on the field. You will be sent home to get the appropriate footwear.
o THICK SOCKS – Wear them! Bare skin rubbing against rough smelly shoes makes for weepy, bloody blisters on heels and toes. We don’t need blisters before the season starts!, but it depends on where they are in their practice schedule.
o Money for lunch, or a bagged lunch.
o Bring small, quick snacks to eat during long water breaks. Just
FYI, a regular water break is something like 10 seconds (enough time to
run off the field, gulp a couple of swigs of water, and run back on
field); a LONG water break is like 45 seconds, oooooh (enough time to
walk off the field, savor 2 or 3 swallows of water, a couple of bites of
a granola bar, and run back to the field). J
Eat a healthy Breakfast!! We
ALWAYS have at least one of you passing out because you only had a cup
of water before getting to school, or you decide it’s too early to eat. Guess what? Practice doesn’t stop when YOU think it’s time to eat. And when you drop out of the practice block because you’re too nauseous or dizzy, you won’t get any sympathy from Mrs. Feltman.
Eat a healthy Lunch!! You’re going to be very busy marching in the afternoon. Mrs.
Feltman does not want to deal with you keeling over from lack of food
or water, or having you sick all over the place after running around the
field, because you had a 32 ounce big gulp and 3 dozen greasy tacos,
just to see if you could do it.
