MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL GREG GIGLIO

Dear Presidents and Parents,
I am sending this email to the presidents of the various boosters
organizations, PTSA, Los Padres, ELAC and other parent organizations because
I am seeking volunteers to be part of School Site Council, which is a
mandated governing body that meets approximately 5 times a year to help
plan, oversee, and organize certain aspects of the school. The SSC needs
parents as well as student and staff representation but does not require any
prior knowledge, just a desire to want to help parents have a voice and to
help the school.
I would ask that you find volunteers from within your organizations as I do
not want to overtax or burden the leaders of your organizations since you
already do so much and give so much of your time already. This is a good
opportunity for your group to be represented in a decision making body as
well as a chance to help influence parts of the school program.
I will be scheduling a meeting for either August or September as a general
info meeting for those interested but will need to know firm names by the
night of Back to School Night(mid September) as all SSC parents must be
voted in, which we do at BTS night.
If you have questions for me before then, please feel free to contact me
(email would be best) or simply send me the names and email addresses of
those who might wish to help.
Thanks again for all that you do to help our students, and I look forward to
partnering with you in the coming school year.

BAND CAMP NEWS

Marchers– Personal Water Jug!
Mrs. Feltman suggested
that all marchers acquire a gallon size water jug. The band moms say
JUST DO IT! Be warned that at Band Camp, there will not be an army of
elves to refill teeny tiny water bottles between water breaks.
Repeat... no elves! Whatever water you bring in the morning will have
to last you until lunch time. That's a long time to be blowing an
instrument with a dry throat. http://Walmart.com has a "Coleman 1-Gallon Jug" for $6.88 (online only). Other stores have them, too. You have been warned! ;)
Parents– Volunteers and food donations needed!
We
will be serving our hard-working marchers snacks and dinner at Band
Camp. There are many tasks you can help with. Come meet and hang out
with fellow band parents, and watch the band practice. Access is easy
since camp is at HHS. Please watch for more information and sign-up
link in upcoming blasts.
