WINTER GROUPS ROCK DAYTON!

Just before Spring Break the Homestead Winter Guard traveled to Dayton, Ohio to compete in the Winter Guard International World Championships. They competed against over 120 groups in the Scholastic A division and finished 5th in the country after finals! Congratulations Winter Guard!

The Homestead Winter Percussion also traveled to Dayton, Ohio during Spring Break for the WGI Percussion World Championships. This was the first time the Winter Percussion has competed at World Championships and they finished 15th in the Scholastic World division, which is the most elite division in WGI! Congratulations to the Winter Percussion!

OPEN HHSMB PARENT VOLUNTEER POSITIONS FOR THE 2013/2014 SCHOOL YEAR

The following is a list of OPEN parent volunteer positions for 2013/2014.  Many relate solely to the fall Marching Band season.  The quality of our students’ experience depends upon your participation. No prior experience needed! Just a desire to help. We have a great group of experienced parents to help you along the way! 

Available positions:

BBQ Chair, Co-Chair - (plan quantities, purchase, oversee volunteers)
HIGHEST PRIORITY NEED!
Cell & Ink Jet Recycling - (collect, deliver for redemption)
Equipment Maintenance - (assess equipment maintenance needs)

General Concessions Chair, Co-Chair - (Liaison between concession leads, oversee food permitting, setup) HIGHEST PRIORITY NEED!
Hornblower Editor - (solicit articles, format, oversee printing)

Hospitality - (Liaison for HHS/District events such as related to school staff, school exchanges, district events)

Lead Bus Chaperone - (recruit, allocate, oversee volunteers)

Membership - (recruit new members, oversee membership benefits)
Pit Boss (percussion) - (oversee volunteers)
Potatoes Co-Chair - (plan quantities, purchase, oversee volunteers)

PTSA Liaison - (attend PTSA meetings and HHSMB meetings)
Recycling Advocate - (demonstration recycling advocate)

Scrip Sales Co-Chair - (plan quantities, purchase, distribute)
Snack Shack Co-Chair - (plan quantities, purchase, oversee volunteers)
Saturday Practice Water & Ice - (purchase deliver, prep ice/water for weekend practices)
Concessions Ice Deliverer - (purchase deliver game day ice)

Volunteer Coordinator - (assign volunteers, on game day, monitor volunteer needs)

PERCUSSION SPRING WORKSHOPS

All workshops will be 3:45pm-5:45pm in the Homestead Band Room.  Workshops are optional, but highly recommended for incoming freshmen as well as current students interested in auditioning for snare, quad or bass drum.

 

Cost for each workshop is $5/student per week.

Auditions to perform the Star Spangled Banner at graduation and/or perform at the Baccalaureate will be held in the Choir Room on Wednesday, May 1, from 3:14 – 4:15 pm.

Grab your horn and get ready for a day of fun as we partner with Whole Foods Cupertino to raise money for Slow Food South Bay, a local charity! Come on out for an opportunity to perform that solo or ensemble piece that you've been working on or for a chance to relive some good old pep band tunes. Snacks will be provided. Please see flyer posted in the band room.

2013 DCI WEST GROUP TICKETS AVAILABLE $11 EACH!

You can’t get it any better than this….Saturday, June 22nd, Stanford Stadium.  See the Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard and Cadets, The Cadets, Carolina Crown, Phantom Regiment, Blue Knights, Mandarins, Pacific Crest, Revolution, and Renegades!  Your top drum corps just down the road!  And, to top it off, access to group tickets!  Individual ticket prices range from $15 to $75.  We can get $11 group tickets if we get at least 20 people.  If interested, check http://www.homestead-music.org/forms for the DCI Group Ticket Order Form. Please complete the form, staple a check to it, and leave it in Mrs. Feltman’s mail box in Mr. Burn’s office.  Due date for all group ticket orders is Friday, May 17th Go towww.dci.org/tickets if you want to purchase individual tickets.

NEW BAND ROOM AVAILABILITY

New band room availability.   Monday thru Thursday after school until 6 pm.  If a student does not follow the rules during the day, they will not be allowed access after school for the day.   The band room will be closed after school on Fridays.
