Color guard and marching band students interested in being a student leader for the 2013 marching season must attend a mandatory meeting during lunch on Wednesday, April 10th. Mr. Burn will discuss the application process. Please contact Mr. Burn for more information, especially if you cannot make the meeting.
FIRST WORKSHOP FOR 2013-2014 DRUMLINE ON WEDNESDAY (LANE ARMEY)
Hi everyone - even as we are wrapping up this winter percussion
season, we are beginning to look ahead to this upcoming fall. Auditions for the
2013-14 percussion section will be in late May, as in previous years. Full
details will be provided in a few weeks. Current snare or quad drummers, or current seniors need not attend. Incoming freshmen are highly encouraged to attend. Please contact Lane with any questions (lanearmey@gmail.com).
REMINDER - BLOCK H APPLICATIONS DUE THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 12TH (Vicki Feltman)
The Homestead Music Department Block H is awarded to any Homestead student who has completed 4 semesters of HHS music classes. The fall semester only counts for band students if the student is enrolled in Marching Band or Color Guard (Color Guard members can count their winter semester if they are members of Winter Guard; members of Winter Percussion can count their winter semester, too).
Check http://www.homestead-music.org/forms for the Block H Application Form. Please complete the form and return to the box marked ‘Mrs. Feltman’s Mail box’, located in Mr. Burn’s office.
All completed forms are due by Friday, April 12th. No exceptions!
Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you have any questions or comments.
FINAL REMINDERS ABOUT CMEA BAND FESTIVAL THIS FRIDAY, APRIL 12th – NOTE UPDATES BELOW (Vicki Feltman)
Please remember that all performances are mandatory and count towards your grade. The CMEA Band Festival is our most important performance of the semester and is worth 100 points.
As mentioned in multiple blasts, if students are missing this or any performance or any scheduled rehearsals/practices, they must contact Mr. Burn and/or Mr. Weingartner immediately to find out what kind of make up assignment is required. This gives the student time to prepare the assignment, which would be due on the day of the rehearsal or performance, April 12th, in this case.
Parents – there is no bus transportation available. Please transport your students to the Spangenburg Theater at Gunn HS, 780 Arastradero Rd Palo Alto, CA 94306 and sit in the audience and listen to your student’s performance. Admission is FREE and the talent is outstanding.
Formal Concert Attire: Boys: Black dress shoes, dark socks, black pants (no jeans), white button-up collared shirt, black tie and black sport coat. If a coat is unavailable, a black sweater is ok, but no sweatshirts or black shirts please.Girls: Preferred: Long black dress with shoulders covered, black hose and shoes. Ok: Long black pants or skirt knee length or longer, black top with shoulders covered, black hose and shoes. Not Ok: T-shirts, sweatshirts, and tennis shoes. Rule of thumb for girls’ formal concert attire: the less skin showing, the better.
PICK UP YOUR INSTRUMENTS AND MUSIC BEFORE 3 PM FRIDAY, APRIL 12TH. THE BAND ROOM WILL BE LOCKED AT 3 PM WITH NO FURTHER ACCESS UNTIL APRIL 22ND, THE SCHOOL DAY AFTER SPRING BREAK.
If you share your instrument with someone from one of the other bands, make prior arrangements for a smooth handoff of your instrument. Mr. Burn and Mr. Weingartner will not be pleased if you can’t play because you didn’t arrange for the other person to give you your shared instrument.
