NEW HOMESTEAD MUSIC WEBSITE!

(Tim Oey)

The new Homestead Music website at
http://homestead-music.org is now live! Please bookmark it, link to it, and use it to get your HHS Music News.  Let us know what you most want to see on our new site. It will continue to expand and evolve over the coming year. The new site has mobile and computer friendly layouts and also works with the "Mustang Music" Android app by Diveesh Singh (download this app from Google Play).  Enjoy!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ……!

The Homestead Jazz Combos 1 and 2!

Combo 1 received all Excellences, Combo 2 received a UNANIMOUS SUPERIOR at the CMEA Jazz Combo Festival held at Monta Vista on Saturday!

The Homestead Winter Guard!

Winter Guard placed FIRST at WGI Regionals on Saturday at Independence H.S.  Their next competition will be Saturday, February 23rd at Dublin HS.

The Homestead Winter Percussion!

First place for our Winter Percussion at NCPA competition at Oak Grove HS.

Great job everyone!!

THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!

(Vicki Feltman)

We would like to recognize those parents who showed up to help with the exchange concert door monitor duties (Rani Mishra), set up/clean up of the dessert social (Barb Edmonds/DeeDee Wong/Ivy Kerr/Audrey Ishizaki), and Concessions (Barb Edmonds/Allison Clark/Vinata Konda/Rani Mishra/ Nick Sidovar/Ivy Kerr) and Hospitality (Allison Clark/Pat Tomosada) for the Orchestra Festival last week.   We could not have done it without you!!

FYI: most of these ladies and gents do not have students in concert band/symphonic band/orchestra.   Pat Tomosada no longer has students attending Homestead.   All of them are true MUSIC boosters.

BAND ROOM AVAILABILITY

(Vicki Feltman)

The band room should be open between 3 and 6 pm Thursday.  It will be open until 2:30 pm on Friday (holiday schedule).

The band room will not be open during Winter Break February 18-22!  This would be a good time to practice/practice/practice for auditions which begin after Winter Break!

WANTED - ALUMNI BLAST COORDINATOR

(Vicki Feltman)

After all these years, alumnus Lois Okino is stepping down from her very important position of Alumni Blast Coordinator.

She has diligently read our weekly blasts and narrowed the content down to what alumni might like to know, such as competition results, schedule of events, etc.  Alumni no longer need the nitty gritty what-time-should-students-show-up-and-what-should-they-wear articles.

We are looking for someone else to take over this position.  You dont need to be an alumni, but we also would love alumni participation!

Please contact Lois at lokino@yahoo.com or Vicki Feltman at vicki.feltman@gmail.com for more information.

MARCHING BAND SUMMER SCHEDULE

(John Burn)

In an effort to keep the per-student marching band cost as low as possible, and considering that we now have better facilities here at Homestead than where we usually go for band camp, we are planning to hold band camp rehearsals at Homestead and not go out of town in August. We are looking at the idea of a doing a sleep-over in the gym for one night, but we haven't scheduled that date yet.

For those of you already making summer plans, please plan to be back from your your vacations by July 31st, to start mandatory marching band activities beginning August 1st.  We don’t know times or activities yet, so once again, we will live the band motto…. Flexibility.   More information will be announced as we receive it.
