DOOR MONITORS NEEDED FOR WEDNESDAY’S CONCERT AND THURSDAY’S CONCERT BAND EXCHANGE FESTIVAL (Vicki Feltman)
We record every concert held in the Homestead Auditorium and lock the lobby doors so patrons don’t enter while a recording is in progress. Door monitors sit inside the auditorium near the doors and push them open when a piece is done (when they hear clapping). It’s easy duty and the door monitor gets to enjoy the concert.
We need two for the Wednesday concert, and another two for the Thursday concert. Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you can help or have questions.
SPEAKING OF THE EXCHANGE CONCERT…… WE NEED DESSERTS (Vicki Feltman)
Members of Concert Band and Symphonic Band are asked to donate quick and easy desserts to share with 12 new friends. A batch of cookies or brownies, cupcakes, etc., which are easy to pick up and eat and just as easy to clean up would be great.
Desserts can be dropped off in the band room before 6:30 pm.
We could also use a little parent help with set up and clean up.
We would appreciate you either contacting Vicki Feltman or signing up in Volunteer spot ( http://bit.ly/M28Ymz) by Wednesday so we know if we have to go out to purchase enough desserts for Thursday.
Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you can help or if you plan to bring/send a dessert.
A LITTLE HELP ON FRIDAY, PLEASE? (Vicki Feltman)
Music Boosters will be manning a concession stand during the Homestead Orchestra Festival this Friday, Feb 8th. We need help from adults and/or students, anyone who might be available to sell chips, candy, drinks, cup of noodles (your basic low key concession fare). No cooking involved!
We have the following shifts to fill:
12-2 pm, 2-4 pm, 4-6 pm, 6-8 pm, 8-10 pm
I (Vicki) also need help with adjudicator hospitality. I will be sitting in the lobby ALL day and ALL night at festival headquarters, and try as I might, I can’t figure out how I’m going to find time to set up snacks (cheese and crackers) at 2 pm and dinner at 5 pm (Chinese food, which will be delivered) while checking in orchestras. I’ll have the food, the plates, silverware, tablecloths, and serving utensils. I just need someone to prepare the staff lounge in an appetizing way so judges will be inclined to eat.
Please contact me at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com as soon as possible if you can help or need more information.

MARCHING BAND SUMMER SCHEDULE (John Burn)
n an effort to keep the per-student marching band cost as low as possible, and considering that we now have better facilities here at Homestead than where we usually go for band camp, we are planning to hold band camp rehearsals at Homestead and not go out of town in August. We are looking at the idea of a doing a sleep-over in the gym for one night, but we haven't scheduled that date yet.
For those of you already making summer plans, please plan to be back from your your vacations by July 31st, to start mandatory marching band activities beginning August 1st. We don’t know times or activities yet, so once again, we will live the band motto…. Flexibility. More information will be announced as we receive it.
BAND ROOM AVAILABILITY (Vicki Feltman)
The band room should be open between 3 and 6 pm tomorrow (Wednesday), but there will be limited access on Thursday, and none on Friday due to concerts and the orchestra festival.
ORDER YOUR DVD’S NOW! (Ellen Yu)
The 2012 Marching DVD and BluRay and the 2012 Winter Pops DVD are ready for duplication!
Which means, if you haven’t ordered you copy, do it now! Carl Gutekunst has outdone himself this year! Re-live the marching season. See the show from pre-season rehearsals thru the finished product, and then some. This will be a great gift for graduating seniors, grandparents, band and guard members who want to capture every year’s performance forever.
Ditto for the Winter Pops Concerts. See and hear the fantastic performances of Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. If you couldn’t make either show, this is your chance to find out what you missed. If you DID make it to the show, it’s worth another listen.
2012 Marching DVD’s cost $15 for a 2-disk set. The 2012 Marching Season is also available in Blu-Ray, for $20.
The 2012 Winter Pops DVD cost $10.
This is money well-spent. You can find the order forms on the Music Booster website at https://sites.google.com/site/hhsmusicus/forms.
Contact Ellen Yu at ellenyyu@gmail.com if you have any questions.
