SPEAKING OF THE EXCHANGE CONCERT…… WE NEED DESSERTS

(Vicki Feltman)

Members of Concert Band and Symphonic Band are asked to donate quick and easy desserts to share with 12 new friends.   A batch of cookies or brownies, cupcakes, etc., which are easy to pick up and eat and just as easy to clean up would be great.

Desserts can be dropped off in the band room before 6:30 pm.

We could also use a little parent help with set up and clean up.

Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you can help.

SPEAKING OF CONCERTS AGAIN…… WE NEED DOOR MONITORS

(Vicki Feltman)

We record every concert held in the Homestead Auditorium and lock the lobby doors so patrons don’t enter while a recording is in progress.  Door monitors sit inside the auditorium near the doors and push them open when a piece is done (when they hear clapping).   It’s easy duty and the door monitor gets to enjoy the concert.

We need two for the Wednesday concert, and another two for the Thursday concert.   Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you can help or have questions.

SPEAKING OF THE ORCHESTRA FESTIVAL…… WE NEED HELP WITH CONCESSIONS

(Vicki Feltman)

Homestead’s first annual Orchestra Festival will take place next Friday, February 8th This event will run all afternoon and evening.  We would like to set up a concession stand in front of the auditorium to provide beverages and snack type foods for the 18 groups performing on campus.

No cooking required, just a friendly smile and the ability to make change.

Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you can help or need more information.

NOTE – you don’t have to be an orchestra parent to volunteer for concessions at an orchestra event.  All monies go to music boosters to support all students participating in the Homestead music program.

AND SPEAKING OF NEEDS-

(Vicki Feltman)

We are a needy bunch here.  If anyone has a spare box of Kleenex to donate, we would very much appreciate it.  I am down to our very last half a box, and keeping a wary eye on sniffling students trying to grab a sheet.

Please drop off boxes in the the box marked “Mrs. Feltman’s Mailbox” in Mr. Burn’s office

AUSTRIA PERFORMANCE TOUR 2014

Additional details and FAQ’s were emailed to everyone except Seniors.

Please contact Vicki Feltman at Vicki.feltman@gmail.com if you did not receive the email, or if you have questions.

MARCHING BAND SUMMER SCHEDULE

(Vicki Feltman)

For those of you already making summer plans, please plan to be back from your your vacations by July 31st, to start mandatory marching band activities beginning August 1st.  We don’t know times or activities yet, so once again, we will live the band motto…. Flexibility.   More information will be announced as we receive it.

BAND ROOM AVAILABILITY

(Vicki Feltman)

Due to a very important event Wednesday, January 30th (my daughter’s 26th birthday), the band room will not be open after school.  I need to go home to bake a cake and cook dinner!

The band room will also be closed after 7th period on Friday, February 1st.

Expect the band room to be open between 3 and 6 pm this Thursday.  Next week, band room availability will be limited.  We have concert rehearsals scheduled Monday beginning at 4:45 pm.

The band room should be open between 3 and 6 pm next Tuesday and Wednesday, but limited access next Thursday, and none next Friday.

More details will be given in the next blast.

ORDER YOUR DVD’S NOW!

(Vicki Feltman)

The 2012 Marching DVD and BluRay and the 2012 Winter Pops DVD are ready for duplication!

Which means, if you haven’t ordered you copy, do it now!  Carl Gutekunst has outdone himself this year!  Re-live the marching season.  See the show from pre-season rehearsals thru the finished product, and then some.   This will be a great gift for graduating seniors, grandparents, band and guard members who want to capture every year’s performance forever.

Ditto for the Winter Pops Concerts.  See and hear the fantastic performances of Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Orchestra.   If you couldn’t make either show, this is your chance to find out what you missed.  If you DID make it to the show, it’s worth another listen.

2012 Marching DVD’s cost $15 for a 2-disk set.  The 2012 Marching Season is also available in Blu-Ray, for $20.

The 2012 Winter Pops DVD cost $10.

This is money well-spent.  You can find the order forms on the Music Booster website at https://sites.google.com/site/hhsmusicus/forms.

Contact Ellen Yu at ellenyyu@gmail.com if you have any questions.
