GETTING DECKED OUT FOR THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS PARADE (Barbara Edmonds)
The Los Altos Festival of Lights Parade is a fun parade where bands not only play, but get totally decked out in lights, etc. Students are welcome to dress up their uniform and instruments with lights, holiday decorations etc. The brighter the better (the little kids love this). If you are going to buy lights (e.g. Target has cheap ones), try and get LED lights. They're small and very bright. They run on batteries (typically 2-3 AA or AAA batteries).
To connect them to your uniform, shako and/or instrument please use removable tape. You can do all your design preparation at home since you'll take your uniform home with you prior to the parade.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Barbara Edmonds at edmondsbarb@yahoo.com.
