HOMESTEAD HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC BOOSTER BLAST!

October 31, 2012

 

THERE WILL BE PRACTICE TONIGHT, RAIN OR SHINE – 5:30-8:30PM.  COSTUMES OPTIONAL. 

 

Parents, please contact Mr. Burn by email at john_burn@fuhsd.org if your child will be missing any practice, football game, or performance, regardless of the reason.    Your student’s grade can be affected by absences.

NEW NEWS:

 

SCHEDULE FOR FRIDAY Nov 2nd

5:30pm - Full Band meets in band quad with instruments, gloves, shoe bag with CLEAN shoes and CLEAN black socks.  Take everything you need out to the band quad.  Band room will be locked), Please remember to wear a shirt with short sleeves (NO TANK TOPS).   Also, remember to wear your boxer shorts.  The uniform carts with your hats and garment bags will be out and ready when you arrive.  Hair must be under control.  If your hair is long enough to touch your collar, be prepared to wear hair nets, hair pins, and hair ties.   If you do not bring the right materials to keep your hair up, Mrs. Edmonds and Mrs. Richards have these items for sale for $3.

 

Get in uniform; uniform carts will be set up outside, where everyone will change.  Take care of any uniform issues before warm-ups!! Look for Mrs. Richards and other uniform moms to help you. 

 

Leave your instrument cases between the uniform carts in the center of the band quad.  Tubas and percussion leave cases against art building.


6:00pm - Warm up/Pep band music rehearsal – SMS band students will be joining us!


6:55pm - March into stadium -- Pre-game concert on the track


7:25pm - Traditional pre-game show


7:30 p.m. (approximately) - game begins.

  • During the game, the band sits in their sections in full uniform, and plays pep band music.
  • No eating or drinking, except water, while in uniform.
  • The entire band stands up when we play.
  • Four minutes before half-time the band prepares for the half-time show.
  • Half time: the band performs Poseidon’s Dream!
  • After the half-time show, you will go back to the uniform carts and change out of your uniforms, and put on pep band shirt, jacket and jeans.  Return your hat to its box, your marching shoes to the shoe bag, and your uniform jacket and pants (NEATLY HUNG) to the garment bag.  Hang the uniforms on the carts.
  • 3rd quarter: return to stadium, get some food, and bring your food to the band area of the bleachers.  4th quarter: ALL band members must attend 4th quarter.   When the band is playing, everyone needs to be playing (not eating or talking). You must be with your section (flutes, clarinets, altos, etc.) when in the stands. We will play one or two songs after the game ends, and then you’re dismissed. (sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 pm)
  • TAKE ALL YOUR STUFF HOME WITH YOU, leaving no personal property or garbage behind!  (Uniforms and hats stay on the carts.)
  • Pre-order tickets – you will find them in your hat boxes after half-time.  Tuba tickets will be taped to their instrument cases.  Pit will find their tickets taped on the side of their uniform cart.  Color Guard pre-order tickets will be distributed by a Color Guard parent.  If you cannot find your pre-order tickets, check with Mrs. Hartlage at the pre-ordered food area under the bleachers.   She has the master list.

ATTENTION SENIOR PARENTS – please come share the spotlight with your senior student.  During the Equestriette’s performance, we invite all senior parents to join their students on the field.  We will sort you in alphabetical order based on student last name.  During the recognition, Mr. Weingartner will announce your student’s name.  You and your student will walk to Mr. Burn, who will greet you.  You and your student will then have your picture taken.  Photos will be distributed to you in the next few weeks.  If you cannot attend, Mrs. Feltman will escort your student to Mr. Burn.  I am sure your student would prefer to have you there to share the experience.  Please join us!



MARCHING BAND AND COLOR GUARD HOME SHOW & GOURMET FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL - SATURDAY, NOV 3, 3:00-7:00 PM

This year’s Marching Band and Color Guard Home Show is on Saturday November 3rd, starting at 3 PM at the Mustang Field! Along with the fabulous show planned for the day, we will also be featuring several gourmet food trucks serving a variety of fabulous items such as tacos, steak, chicken and desserts! Come out and enjoy this hottest new craze sweeping the Bay Area--GOURMET FOOD TRUCKS!

For those of you who are new to HHSMB, this is a wonderful opportunity to invite families, friends, and supporters to come and watch our wonderful 'award-winning' Mighty Mustang Marching Band show! The show will feature a special Senior Recognition presentation, so parents of seniors be sure to attend!

CONCESSION PRE-ORDER FORM DUE OCTOBER 31st

Another home football game is coming up soon – Homestead v. Wilcox is Friday, November 2nd. The deadline for the concession pre-order form is Wednesday, October 31st at 8:30PM.

The form can be downloaded from the HHSMB website at http://www.hhs.fuhsd.org/mbmain - go to the Forms page and download the Concession Pre-Order Form.

 

Please return the completed Concession Pre-Order Form, along with a check, to

Ms. Vicki Feltman’s box.  You may place an order for one or more football games at any time.

 

As a reminder, pre-order food tickets will be found in the marchers' hat boxes AFTER they have performed their half time show. PIT and TUBAS will have their tickets taped to the side of their uniform cart. If a marcher's hat box is not in its proper cubby their tickets will also be taped to the side of the cart. Guard will have tickets distributed to them. If there are any problems with tickets on game night, please see an adult at the pre-order table (beneath the home bleachers).

Scrip is sold at the end of practice on Wednesdays on the curb of the staff parking lot, and on Fridays, 2:15 – 3:15, outside the band room.  Contact us if you would like make other arrangements to purchase scrip.
