5:30 p.m. Full Band meets in band quad with instruments, gloves, shoe bag with CLEAN shoes and CLEAN black socks.  Take everything you need out to the band quad.  BanBand room will be locked), Please remember to wear a shirt with short sleeves (NO TANK TOPS).   Also, remember to wear your boxer shorts.  The uniform carts with your hats and garment bags will be out and ready when you arrive.  Hair must be under control.  If your hair is long enough to touch your collar, be prepared to wear hair nets, hair pins, and hair ties.   If you do not bring the right materials to keep your hair up, Mrs. Edmonds and Mrs. Richards have these items for sale for $3.

Get in uniform; uniform carts will be set up outside, where everyone will change.  Take care of any uniform issues before warm-ups!! Look for Mrs. Richards and other uniform moms to help you.

Leave your instrument cases between the uniform carts in the center of the band quad.  Tubas and percussion leave cases against art building.

p.m.  Warm up/Pep band music rehearsal – SMS band students will be joining us!

p.m. March into stadium -- Pre-game concert on the track

 p.m. Traditional pre-game show

7:30 p.m.
 (approximately) - game begins.

  • During the game, the band sits in their sections in full uniform, and plays pep band music.
  • No eating or drinking, except water, while in uniform.
  • The entire band stands up when we play.
  • Four minutes before half-time the band prepares for the half-time show.
  • Half time: the band performs Poseidon’s Dream!
  • After the half-time show, you will go back to the uniform carts and change out of your uniforms, and put on pep band shirt, jacket and jeans.  Return your hat to its box, your marching shoes to the shoe bag, and your uniform jacket and pants (NEATLY HUNG) to the garment bag.  Hang the uniforms on the carts.
  • 3rd quarter: return to stadium, get some food, and bring your food to the band area of the bleachers.  4th quarter: ALL band members must attend 4th quarter.   When the band is playing, everyone needs to be playing (not eating or talking). You must be with your section (flutes, clarinets, altos, etc.) when in the stands. We will play one or two songs after the game ends, and then you’re dismissed. (sometime between 9:30 and 10:30 pm)
  • TAKE ALL YOUR STUFF HOME WITH YOU, leaving no personal property or garbage behind!  (Uniforms and hats stay on the carts.)

  • Pre-order tickets – you will find them in your hat boxes after half-time.  Tuba tickets will be taped to their instrument cases.  Pit will find their tickets taped on the side of their uniform cart. Color Guard pre-order tickets will be distributed by a colorguard parent.  If you cannot find your pre-order tickets, check with Mrs. Hartlage at the pre-ordered food area under the bleachers.   She has the master list.

The FUHSD Marching Band Exposition is an annual event showcasing the talents of district high schools in a non-competitive venue.  Each band performs twice- once for the other bands in the afternoon, and once for the audience in the evening.  It’s an awe-inspiring sight when 5 marching bands with color guard fill up the bleachers.

Admission is $5 per person, with all proceeds split evenly.  Since this show benefits all the schools, even volunteers pay the entry fee.

The show starts at 7 pm.  If you’d like to come and get a good spot to sit, chill with some yummy concession foods before the crowds get there, find a parking space, show up around 6.

AND, in case you hadn’t noticed, there are a WHOLE BUNCH of volunteer opportunities that have popped up.  Because Homestead is hosting the event this year.  we expect big crowds.  Lend a hand where you can, to show the other schools how it’s done.  J

Please consider walking to Homestead for the field show expo.  That’s one of the advantages of having the show at our school.  No hassles with non-existent parking, no waiting in lines to make a turn into a filled parking lot.

The faculty parking lot will be closed to all parking and reserved for trucks and buses supporting the other bands in the district.  The Building F parking lot will be reserved for Handicapped parking.  This means the only available parking will be the Student Parking lot and surface streets.

If you need to drive, we recommend you park on Mary Ave on the other side of 280 and walk over on the pedestrian bridge.

STUDENTS –  We need all cars moved out of the faculty parking lot at lunch time.   We need to keep it clear of all cars to allow buses and trucks to park.   We have 5 school’s support vehicles and uniform carts and pit equipment to lay out.
