Welcome to the Fall 2014 Season!

Dear Students and Parents:

Welcome to another exciting year of Band and Color Guard activities at Homestead High School! We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Kick-off Potluck on Saturday, August 16th. There is a lot of important information included on Fall 2014 Season home page, and more information will be added in the weeks to come.  So please read everything carefully and check back from time-to-time for additional information.

This year, competition field trip fees, and HHMSB donations/contributions will be paid using PayPal.  (If there is a problem with using this method of payment, please contact Kelly Giannini immediately at treasurer@homestead-music.org.)  Also different this year is that families have the option of paying total fees/donations/contributions in two installments (July 1st and September 1st).

Please note that the HHSMB forms reflect the guidelines provided by the California Department of Education regarding allowable expenses that may be charged for band field trips (competition expenses).  The HHS Music Boosters has modified its fee structure, and is also soliciting donations and contributions, to offset other band expenses not covered. The fee structure is as follows:

  1. Costs associated with the marching band field trips (band camp and field show trips/excursions) will continue to be collected as Music Booster fees in the same manner as in the past.  To insure that all who wish to participate will not be denied due to financial reasons, the existing Financial Assistance Program will be maintained.
  2. The purchase and maintenance costs of band uniforms, instruments, and equipment are paid for by Music Boosters and are provided to the students.  Contributions cover the costs of these items are considered a donation, and are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
  3. Discretionary personal items such as Band Jackets and Field Show-T Shirts will not be part of the Booster fees or the uniform/instrument/equipment contribution and shall be paid for by the student/parents.

    The Scrip Program continues to function as it has.  Scrip credits may be used for Music Booster fees and discretionary items, but not for the uniform/instrument/equipment contribution or membership dues.

    Any donation/contribution made to HHSMB will be used to offset student expenses such as extra instruction, instrument and equipment purchase and repair, uniform and costume altering, cleaning, wear and repair, and financial aid to those families needing assistance with costs associated with this program.
